Judo is a terrific sport for children full stop!

It is physically demanding and requires a great deal of cooperative work. By it's very nature it builds confidence in the body and in relationships given the emphasis on self-control, respect and care for the partner.

We aim to provide a fun program that uses a "games sense" approach to teaching judo skills, with a focus on developing the ABCC's (agility, balance, coordination and confidence) of our younger players. As they age, we use a well researched long-term athlete development strategy to include age appropriate activities in the syllabus.

When classes are structured correctly, parents tell us their children seem to improve their ability to concentrate not only on the mat but in other aspects of their lives. The quick pace of the junior classes and focus on positive reinforcement seems to be working really well.

Judo is more than a sport, the lessons learned are tranferrable to situations away from the training hall (dojo) and we often use elements of judo as a metaphor for bigger life lessons.
