Training

The Aspire Judo Academy (formerly Ballarat Judo Club) offers general judo training that is appropriate for the age and level of the participants in each class. Judo is considered a 'late specialisation' sport, so whilst some younger players may enter competitions, there is limited focus on this aspect of judo until students with the desire to follow this path, reach their teenage years. We also recommend children try a variety of activities in order to improve their 'physical literacy'. With our younger players we focus on agility, balance, co-ordination and FUNdamentals. As students develop, so does the curriculum. Skills and training intensity are adjusted to match individual physical and psychological milestones. We are very respectful of the philosophies of judo and work with them to develop the concepts of "maximum efficiency" and "mutual benefit". Currently classes operate during Victorian school terms on
